Simple & Fun St. Patty’s Day crafts☘

Skimming through the internet and Pinterest for crafts for Kaila to keep her content since she’s not in daycare or preschool. Although, she didn’t choose any of these ideas, they still look fun to do with the kiddies 🍀

For a simple, delicious treat that will be a for sure hit with the kiddies, top green jello with whip cream and top with Lucky Charms marshmallows

Kaila wanted to paint clovers and paste them on a bigger clover and add some stickers….now for some bonus savings, JoAnn’s texts coupons regularly, from 50% off one item to 25% off total purchase, and we all know they are famous for 40-60% off sales, today I saved $17 using coupon along with sales.

March Birthday Roll Call

Happy March, and my birthday month!! For the longest time, I was the only one who had a birthday in March (close family and friends wise), but now I share it with a few special people dear to my heart. So, here’s a little shout out to them…and we’re going to mix this with cocktail hour and give recipes to their favorite drinks as well…Cheers…

Happy Birthday DeerHouse Nana!!

March 10: The woman that gave birth to my handsome husband, my mother-in-law LouAnn, thank you for all that you do for the kids, they love you bunches. My mother-in-law and I share a favorite drink, well she actually turned me onto it, it’s our famous Bloody Mary, please follow link for the recipe:

Happy 1st Birthday Aubree Rose!!

March 12th: Our precious Granddaughter Aubree turns 1!! I can’t believe it’s been a year since I watched this gorgeous diva come into the world, I know her Nana Kelly is watching from above smiling ear to ear with pride. Currently Aubree enjoys her formula (shaken, not stirred, still straight from the bottle), but is smoothly transitioning to regular milk.

March 28th: Whoop whoop, double trouble day!! My sweet cousin Carolyn and I share the same birthday, and since I have not seen this chick since we were little (hint hint Carolyn), I wasn’t aware we shared the same birthday up til a couple years ago…Carolyn is also a kickass  Younique representative, so feel free to browse her site for any beauty needs

Happy Birthday Carolyn!!
My bestie has been celebrating with me for my last 19 birthdays!!

One of Carolyn’s fav cocktails: 2 oz of Hendrick’s gin, 1 oz of St Germain Elderberry, squeeze two lemon wedges over ice, shake and pour into a Martini glass garnished with lemon twist.

Now onto me, pretty much everyone knows I love Bloody Mary’s, but I would say my absolute fave is Malibu and Pineapple, no need for recipe, we all know it’s just 2 ingredients, add as much as you want.

Drink Up Bitches

For everyone out there with a birthday this month, Happy Birthday…cheers to many many more 🙂

Queen of Procrastination

Just like every other busy momma, I am the true definition of procrastination. My intentions were doing separate updates on some of my previous posts, going way back from October. Well, that’s not going to happen, lol, instead here’s one quick update.

1. That damn pom pom rug, nope, still not finished. I did manage to bring into the house in hopes to start it again, well I may be starting back to step one since Kaila has managed to find and play with them….I really need to find a better hiding spot, but it seriously looks like it’ll be done by the time she goes to college in 14 years lol.

2. Fundraising for Jarron’s gaming and technology academy this summer. I am happy to say that I have kept up on the fundraising, we’ve held 3 cookie sales (about 60 dozen sold altogether), and currently working on the last fundraiser, which will the Spaghetti dinner…that was a big hit in the past.

3. Kaila’s laser treatments for her skin graft scars…she has not had anymore treatments, we go back to the burn clinic in 2 months, but I honestly think she will not require anymore…Funny thing is, when her doctor was telling about these treatments and how many she will need, he said, “I never had a child who needed only one treatment”. I replied watch Kaila be his first, and she actually may be the first patient. The reasoning for this is, the laser treatments are simply not beneficial to her, we will wait to see how it looks once she becomes older and the skin stretches out.

4.  The real on POCS…well unfortunately, things were going too well for me for about 4 years, and I believe when I was writing the post, I was recognizing my old symptoms and pains. I said before POCS can not be cured, but manageable, but ultrasounds and labs have detected that I’m no longer managing it, biopsies are being scheduled, then hysterectomy (uncertain partial or full, but with my luck it will full) will be done. These dates are still unknown, waiting on insurance approvals.

5. Frugal Friday and March is fast approaching, that means it’s time to go hit all those clearance sales for next season, hell if you live in Michigan like me, you can use some extra sweatshirts and boots now, we know Winter isn’t fully over until end of April lol.

I believe that’s about all that needed updated for now, my New Year’s resolution was to prioritize my time and projects better, this may be my first step into doing so…better late than never, stay tune for much much more…….

My Bloody Valentine

Now that I got your attention, Happy Valentine’s Day, a few know that today is my husband’s 40th birthday…and no I didn’t go kill him on his birthday, lol….I purposely saved these recipes for this day, and a special thank you to his sister for giving up Grandma’s recipe so I can make this for him, but first the bloody part….Bloody Mary’s, one of our favorite drinks!

Bloody Mary’s:
4 oz V8 juice (can use spicy) *regular tomato juice will do*
1.5oz Vodka (I like Skye)
2 splashes tabasco (more or less depends on your taste)
Fill cup with ice, add vodka, then add V8, top with tabasco
*When I make mine, I put dash of pickle juice and green olive juice in it, I must have a pickle spear and some green olives in it. **Now this is the way we prefer ours, some people add Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce but we prefer to omit those ingredients

Fish Taco’s:
1 lb Grouper (any white fish will do, since we don’t have Grouper in Michigan!)
1 cup of panko bread crumbs (I mixed panko with Italian breadcrumbs)
Egg whites (mixed with lime juice) * I used 4 eggs whites and 1 tbsp fresh lime juice*
1/2c olive oil
Cut fish into cubes (chunks, tenders, however you like), coat in egg white mix, then coat in breadcrumbs, cook in heated olive oil until golden brown all sides and cooked through.
Pico De Gallo:
4 ripe roma tomatoes, finely chopped
1 small white or purple onion, finely chopped
1/4 c cilantro leaf, finely chopped
2 jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped
1 tbsp lime juice
*Combine all ingredients, cover and chill for at least 1 hour
Sour cream sauce:
16oz sour cream
2 tbsp lime juice
2 tbsp taco seasoning
1/2c mayo
*combine all ingredients, chill for 1 hour before serving*
Shredded cabbage, tomatoes, black olives, pico de gallo, shredded cheddar, sour cream sauce…whatever you like inside of a flour/corn tortilla shell.

2 oz Triple Sec

8 oz frozen strawberries in syrup

4 oz frozen limeade concentrate

Fill blender with ice and crush, add tequila and triple sec, then add strawberries and limeade, blend for 30 seconds until smooth. Serve in margarita glasses with rimmed dipped in sugar.

This one is for my little sister who’s birthday is coming up this week, so Happy birthday Cindy Lou who (She’s gonna kill me too lol)

1.5 oz Apple Crown whiskey

4oz Green Apple Gatorade

Fill cup with ice, add Apple Crown then Apple Gatorade

Who’s ready for the Superbowl?

Who’s ready for some football……recipes and money saving tips (yes, I did combine my two favorite type of posts) 😊

Here’s some quick budget friendly recipe that works for any crowd.

Instead of going out to your fav little restaurant or bar and spending $1 on ONE chicken wing, go to the grocery store and pick up a bag of chicken drummettes (little drumsticks) and make yourself.

Easy Chicken Wings:

Oven Baked

1 bag of chicken (thawed and dried well with paper towels)

2/3 cups of flour

2 Tbsp Paprika

2 tsp each of garlic salt & black pepper

1 tsp cayenne pepper

6 Tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Combine all dry ingredients in a plastic bag & shake to mix

Add chicken wings

Line large baking sheet with foil and melt butter on it.

Add wings to pan and turn to coat

Bake for 30 min, Turn wings over, bake additional 15 minutes or until crispy and done.

**This recipe can be used to fry the wings as well, omit the butter**

Serve or toss with your favorite wing sauce!!!

Spinach Artichoke dip:

1 10oz frozen chopped spinach (thawed, drained, and squeezed dry)

1 14oz can of Artichoke hearts (drained, and chopped)

1/4c Mayo

1 pack of cream cheese (softened)

1 cup grated Parmesan Cheese

Mix mayo and cream cheese together until smooth, add remaining ingredients.

Cover and bake in a 375 degree preheated oven for 20 min. uncover and bake additional 5 min.

Instead of ordering a party sub for your football party, set out a deli meat and cheese tray. Let your guests make their own sandwiches.

Depending on the number of guests, but for a party of 10-15

2 lbs sliced turkey

1 ½ lbs sliced ham

1 lb each of swiss and American cheese

1 large onion sliced

2 tomatoes sliced

1 bag of shredded lettuce

3-4 loafs of bread (white, wheat, rye, etc)

Then set out the typical condiments (Mayo, mustard, pickles, miracle whip)

Buffalo Chicken Dip

1 package softened cream cheese

1 cup cooked chicken breast (canned works or shredded rotisserie chicken)

½ c Buffalo wing sauce

½ cup ranch

2 cups shredded Colby- Monterey jack cheese

Mix cream cheese, ranch, and buffalo sauce well together

Fold in chicken

Pour mixture in baking dish (pie plate)

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min.

Add Cheese and bake additional 10-15 min.

Serve with Bread sticks, celery sticks, fritos or tortilla chips

Now here’s the ultimate savings tip, saves you plenty of time in the kitchen….Invite yourself to a friends house who is also watching the game…stop at the store and pick up a 6 pack so you’re not going there empty handed.  😊

I hope everyone enjoys their night, remember to drink responsible, and DON’T Drink and Drive!!!

Walking Tacos!!

Walking Tacos

Who doesn’t love the easy convenient food at the little league concession stand, or sporting events, but with it being a little too cold out and no baseball going on, I found 2 easy and great recipes to make my own at home. What is a walking taco? It’s a small bag of corn chips topped with taco meat (or chili), cheese, jalapenos, it’s basically heaven in a bag!! I never can enjoy the full experience of the mini meal because they all use regular hamburger meat, since I made myself, I used ground turkey…

Walking taco with Chili sauce:

1 lb ground hamburger (turkey)

1 10oz can of tomatoes with green chilies

1 15oz can of Ranch style beans (pinto beans in seasoned tomato sauce)

1 packet of Chili seasoning

Directions: brown meat (drain), mix all ingredients together and cook on low for about 10 minutes

Walking taco with taco meat:

1 lb  ground hamburger (or turkey)

1 envelope of taco seasoning

Brown meat and drain, add packet of taco seasoning (adding little water at a time until desired consistency), simmer 5 minutes.

For both recipes you’ll need:

1 oz bags of corn chips (frito’s)

Shredded Mexican cheddar cheese (or liquid Nacho cheese)

Top with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, jalapenos, Picante sauce (salsa), or any other favorite topping you desire.

**Instead of little bags of corn chips, you can buy bigger size and layer it in a bowl instead of bag, Doritos can be used as well**
